The body of this teapot is adorned with a Tang-style arabesque motif resembling window latticework, delicately carved into cascading patterns that drape elegantly down the pot’s surface. Exquisite chrysanthemum and peony flowers are meticulously sculpted, their petals arranged in intricate layers, each bloom fully open and radiant—symbolizing vibrant vitality. Combined with the gilding technique, the teapot exudes an air of opulent grandeur. The teapot lid echoes the design of the body, while the spout boasts a full, upward-curving shape. A woven rattan handle complements the design, paired with a chrysanthemum-petal-shaped knob. Overall, the teapot presents an aura of majestic elegance and wealth.
Tang Grass is a very ancient motif—a scrolling vine pattern originally derived from a climbing plant known as honeysuckle, which was native to Central Asia. This motif spread to India, where it evolved into the “lotus motif.” As Buddhism traveled along the Silk Road into China, this S-shaped design gained widespread popularity around the world and gave rise to numerous variations. The scrolling vine pattern first appeared during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties period. During the Tang Dynasty, this motif became immensely popular and incorporated many distinctive features of the Tang era, earning it the name “Tang Grass Pattern.” Entirely crafted from sterling silver, the teapot features a smooth, pressed lid with a centrally riveted “cherry blossom bubble” handle. The teapot’s body is adorned with an oval-shaped, gilded honeysuckle and Tang Grass motif. Its spout is a gracefully curved, three-bend design ideal for low-angle, slow tea infusion. Behind the spout, there’s a single, unobstructed mesh filter. The handle and loop are made of woven rattan, serving both decorative and insulating purposes. With a capacity of 1400 ml, this teapot can yield approximately twenty-four cups of tea, making it perfect for gatherings and group tea ceremonies.
