When viewed from certain angles, the hammered texture of the piece reveals a gem-like luster. Combined with its full, rounded form, the teapot’s handle is also shaped like a precious jewel, perfectly complementing the body of the teapot.
The exquisitely rounded and smooth overall shape of the teapot is adorned with delicate, horizontally arranged water-wave patterns that run throughout its surface. These water-wave motifs, along with other ancient decorative elements, exhibit characteristics of diversity and unity, harmonious contrast, and balanced symmetry—features that adapt flexibly to different vessel forms. They embody early humans’ natural sense of belonging to water sources and reflect the seamless integration of form and decoration. During the middle and late Neolithic period, water-wave patterns were widely adopted. By the Shang and Zhou dynasties, bronze vessels had become the primary medium for showcasing such designs. The teapot features a cleverly crafted, circular water-wave spout; a crisp, minimalist pouring lip; and a hollow, insulated, one-piece handle and loop—all perfectly suited for tea tasting by up to fifteen people.
